Volkswagen has confirmed that its new Touareg will be priced from £38,255 in the UK. The new Touareg is longer by 20mm but its weight is 200kg less than the outgoing model.
In addition, VW asserts that this new model is 20% more efficient. Buyers can choose from three powertrains in the UK. These are the 237bhp 3.0-litre V6 TDI, the 335bhp 4.2-litre V8 TDI and the 375bhp petrol-electric 3.0-litre TSI Hybrid that all come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level SE version, which has a price tag of £38,255, is equipped with a V6 TDI that has a combined fuel economy of 38.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 195g/km. Meanwhile, the Hybrid priced at £54,995 has a fuel economy of 34.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 193g/km. VW anticipates that this entry-level model will be its biggest seller. Standard equipment includes leather seats, a touchscreen sat-nav with DAB radio and burr walnut interior trim. Orders are now being taken in the UK with the first units to start delivering this October. Those who want the Hybrid won’t need to wait long as the order books for the Hybrid open next month.
