World’s Most Incredible Aquariums

A great source of entertainment for adults, children and entire families, aquariums are found throughout the world. Got Saga recently rounded up some of the World’s Most Incredible Aquariums that may make your local one seem like a mere pond.


The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa Japan holds 80 species of coral and is one of very few that keep whale sharks in captivity, and is currently trying to breed them. Its main tank, called the ‘Kuroshio Sea’ holds 1,981,290 gallons of water and features the world’s second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters. [Image- Japan-i]


L’Oceanogràfic in Valencia Spain (also seen above) is the largest complex of its type in all of Europe and has 45,000 animals of 500 different species including fish, mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates — amongst these are sharks, penguins, dolphins, sea lions, walruses, beluga whales, and more — all inhabiting nine underwater towers. The AquaDom in Berlin, Germany, is an 82 foot tall cylindrical acrylic glass aquarium with built-in transparent elevator. The largest dome in the world is filled with nearly 240,000 liters of seawater and contains some 2600 fish of 56 species. The feeding of the fish and the cleaning of the fish tank is performed daily by a pair of full-time divers.
